DARTMOUTH, Mass. (AP) - Police are investigating a homicide after a man was discovered bleeding heavily inside a car in a Dartmouth hotel parking lot.

The Bristol County District Attorney's Office said Dartmouth Police received a 911 call from the night manager at the Regency Hotel at about 10:34 Saturday night.

Investigators said first responders found the victim - identified as 37-year-old Joseph Tavares of Fall River - sitting unresponsive in the driver's seat.

Tavares was suffering from apparent gunshot wounds and was rushed to St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, where he was pronounced dead at 11:07 p.m.

Investigators said the hotel manager said he was alerted to the car after a guest reported hearing loud thuds and breaking glass coming from the hotel's rear parking lot.
